I do lively presentations
for grades K-3, at schools, at bookstores and for teacher conferences,
discussing my writing and where I get my ideas. I recall when I was
in elementary school, how I loved “make believe” and made
up stories all the time — and how much I still love to make up
stories. I talk about the importance of keeping a journal — of
writing things down in order not to forget! I read excerpts from
my journal and show how everyday events can be transformed into interesting
stories. For older students I discuss the revising process, and how
I revise and revise until there is nothing else to revise!
